Welcome

Welcome to YOUR Community Food & Hygiene Pantry

There are seasons when life slows to a crawl, planned or unplanned. Times when the lives we have created are put on hold and we begin taking an inventory of where we have been and where we wish to be. It is in one of these times that I took account of my limited resources and asked God “what will you have with me?” Being a nurse by trade my innate desire is to make life just a little bit better for those who are suffering but since I have not been able to engage in meaningful and routine work because of other family responsibilities, I thought about other ways I could help. For the last couple of years, it has been on my heart to open a food and hygiene product pantry from my home. I tossed around multiple ideas about how to bring this idea to fruition. How could I streamline and personalize a pantry experience for those in Lake Township and surrounding communities that would make it easier for patrons to shop and receive food and hygiene necessities out of my small home and with my limited resources? This was my idea: create a digital platform and partner with community agencies, churches, or businesses within a five mile radius to deliver to those in need. I had no idea how to build a website, so I investigated the cost and resources available. I found The Free Website Guys. This is a business that provides free website building services to some individuals who apply. I applied and was chosen. Again, I know nothing about building web pages, but what I learned was that they build the framework and then I add the details. It is VERY tedious work and not at all anything I enjoyed doing BUT here we are! Now individuals can shop from a digital pantry and either schedule a time to pick up their order from my home OR I can deliver it to a public place that I partner with.

The pantry is NOT open yet. The first step is stocking the pantry. I will be reaching out to the community and local businesses/agencies to request donations this week. If you are interested in donating please reach out to me and thank you!

I pray that this becomes a community project that provides those in need with the support, dignity, and care they need to make it through another day.

Why This Pantry Exists

No one should have to choose between:

  • Buying groceries or paying rent
  • Purchasing hygiene products or covering utilities
  • Feeding their family or caring for themselves

This pantry exists to help ease that burden — even in a small way.

What We Offer

Our pantry provides:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Basic hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, etc.)
  • Household essentials when available

Everything is offered freely, without judgment and without complicated requirements.

Our Heart Behind It

This isn’t just about supplies. It’s about community.

It’s about:

  • Neighbors supporting neighbors
  • Meeting needs with compassion
  • Preserving dignity
  • Creating a safe space where asking for help is okay

Everyone who reaches out will be treated with respect. Everyone who gives will be appreciated. Everyone belongs.

How You Can Be Involved

This pantry is community-powered. If you feel led to support, you can:

  • Donate non-perishable food or hygiene items
  • Share this pantry with someone who may need it
  • Offer encouragement and prayer (if that aligns with your values)
  • Volunteer time or help with transporting orders to partnering businesses and agencies (local dialysis clinics, doctor offices, schools, daycare centers within a five mile radius of Lake Township)
  • Become a care partner allowing groceries to be delivered to your local agency or business for pickup

No contribution is too small.

A Final Word

Opening my home for this purpose is both humbling and hopeful. I believe that when we care for one another in practical ways, we strengthen the very fabric of our community.

If you need support, please come.
If you can give, thank you.
If you can deliver, AWESOME!!!!
If you’re simply reading this, you are already part of the story.

With gratitude and hope,
Amy Walker
